Should my horse wear shoes during the journey?
As a general rule, it is safer for your horse and its handlers to have the hind shoes removed for shipping.

Is there any age limit up to which my horse can be transported by air?
There is no set age limit up to which your horse can fly. Each horse is treated as an individual and we will go through his or her general health with you and your veterinary surgeon to establish whether he or she is fit to fly.

My mare is in foal. What are the date limits up to which she can fly?
We kindly refer to the IATA Live Animal Regulations that clearly state that it is not allowed to transport any mares over 300 days in foal. Please also take into account that the transport for any mare in foal can result in potential health risks.

I am sending my horse to the United Arab Emirates. Can you tell me more about the flu vaccination requirements?

What happens to my horse prior, during and after the flight?
Your horse will be attended to by one of our professional animal attendants. They monitor and attend to your horse during the flight. They will feed and water them during the flight and socially interact with them in order to prevent any stress. When in doubt, they will consult a veterinary upon landing to prevent any problems and guarantee the safe return of your horse.

What do I need to send with my horse for the journey?
You must ensure that your horse has a valid passport for his/her journey. Copex will provide food and water.

TRANSPORT
Am I allowed to bring my own horse to and from the airport?
Yes. You are allowed to organize the transport to and from the airport. However, Copex is pleased to organize this transport as well.
Of course, we will provide you with all necessary directions, timings and contacts.

Can I accompany my horse?
You are allowed to accompany your horse to the animal hotel at the airport.

Can I fly with my horse?
The current aviation security requirements restrict any unauthorized individual from accompanying the horse. We provide professional grooms who are all fully security cleared on the various carriers that we use. There may be the opportunity for a client or groom to fly with their horse alongside one of our professional grooms on specific flights.  In these cases, we arrange all the necessary documentation well in advance.

CUSTOMS
Who deals with Customs authorities in the port of departure and/or arrival?
Copex and/or its agencies will act on your behalf at Customs. You will need to fill out some forms for your shipment, and a Copex Representative will go over them with you.

INSURANCE
Is my horse insured during transit?
Unless otherwise informed we assume that all horses that we carry are fully insured by our clients and all horses are handled at the owners risk as per our terms and conditions. However, Copex can organize insurance on your behalf as well.

COSTS
How much does it cost to transport my horse?
The costs depend on the route and type of services you require. We will send you a comprehensive quote including all aspects of the journey. We can also quote for quarantine costs. There will be no hidden costs.
